So the results are in! Yesterday we emptied our piggy bank into an Eataly shopping bag, and lugged the coins over to the nearest penny counting machine to get the exact count, just as we promised.
In good shape
We woke up this morning and the loft was filled with sunlight! There's more space for it to spread every day...
Cycles and pigs
It's crazy that in a few days September will be here, and those of us in NYC are already feeling the temperature start to trickle down, slowly as it always does this time of year, like a drip. But it's happening! And we'll go through the seasons as we always do. And soak up these mornings on the fire escape while we can...
Life doesn't stop without a tabletop+chairs: our first (floor) dinner party
One by one the guest list grew last night...what started out as a small home-cooked dinner with Aviv + my sister soon turned into Aviv, my sister, and my best friend ... and then Aviv's brother... and his girlfriend...and then my other girlfriend who just landed yesterday morning from Israel after we haven't seen her for two months. We were 7 total, and we dined on the floor! And man, did we dine...
How much money in the piggy bank?
Last night, after everyone picked up their new pieces of furniture and decor, we were eating dinner as this piggy bank was staring at us.
Sold, sold, sold, sold, sold, and sold!
I'm looking around this morning at all the things that remain...like the dining table, that ABC home pink mini-couch, saddle chair + turkish rugs; and I'm trying to imagine where they will all be as we trickle through the next month...who on earth will they belong to?
Less is more
This weekend was packed full of Leaving Wooster success...+ real work, and some fun at Odd Birdz, and a really great yoga experience at Modo Yoga on 6th ave.
No chairs to sit on!
Well well, on Saturday a new friend purchased all 4 anthropologie chairs and hopped in a cab back to Brooklyn, where the chairs will finally see their new home.
Usually, when people come over to grab their new piece of furniture or decor from our loft, it all happens so quickly and we don't really get much time to even think about it.
This time however, it was a little different.
Chairs to sit on
We sold the six Restoration Hardware chairs yesterday—the ones surrounding the farm table, the ten seater.
Our "Zoo York" gets smaller...
This weekend, after a good friend came over to pick up her newly adopted tin elephant (JT!), she so kindly sent over this picture to let us know that he was all-set; a-okay on the way to his new abode...
So: the big question — what do we do with him?
Sectioned off by 3 wide canvases to form one large picture, the Panda took Aviv + I almost a full year to complete.
I'm adding a second suitcase to the mix... :)
I walked out of our very dark bedroom this morning, and my eyes were suddenly pierced by just a little more light than usual. I'm looking around at the empty corners (yes, there are empty corners! it's working!), and there's more sunshine seeping through these windows than I've seen in a very long time.
"Cleaning house": another routine to bring along for the ride!
Mid-month; we've arrived, already. We have 44 days left on Wooster St.
This morning a lightbulb lit up...in my mind! I was reminded of another daily routine that sprouted from living in this place. It's one that I've also convinced Aviv to adopt as a daily practice in his own way, no matter where we find ourselves.

Speaking of new life and inspiration, we've got some readings to share.
ADOPTED! : Anthropologie folding tables...and the reminder that we all deserve to be happier than birds with french fries
We made another new friend yesterday! She climbed the stairs to our loft around 7p to come in and inspect the Anthropologie Folding Tables she found on our site... and she left adopting them both, plus a few little extras... :)
Bittersweet, but mostly sweet. Aviv's favorite item in the loft is sold!
There I was yesterday, walking towards Aviv on the corner of 17th and Union Sq East after a long Wednesday at work. I fluttered up to him as he looked up from his phone, kissed me and said, Baby, someone just bought the couch from our website.
Goodbye dressers, don't look so blue...
Well, we gotta hand it to Craig! Though we haven't been in touch for years, his website is not as bad as we remembered. Damn, there are even big square photos showcasing the furniture, instead of that crappy blue list that looked like it came out of the 80's. Yes, we received a couple of weird emails--but mostly tons of relevant traffic, and two decent sales within 24 hours! Thanks Craigslist! :)
Routines...and breaking free from some of them
With the prospects of moving from apartment to apartment each month in NYC, so many people have started talking to me about "the unknown"—isn't it going to cause a certain anxiety each month? Not knowing where or what you're going to come home to over the course of the next year?
Open house #1 [after]
So, results? A few items found a new home to dwell in, and some other things went on reserve...but big picture: many wonderful people came through yesterday's open door—and we were so thankful to see their faces!
Keeping the journey fun, and alive: Open house #1 [before]
Tomorrow will mark one week after we let this idea + story out into the universe, and I've already felt so many things in the midst of all these happenings over the course of a mere seven days.
