We sold the six Restoration Hardware chairs yesterday—the ones surrounding the farm table, the ten seater.
More new friends to welcome in, and this time it was a couple. They asked, and listened-in again on what we were doing Leaving Wooster, mentioning that it's funny because they are doing almost the exact opposite!
These proud new chair-owners had just decided to move in together. In doing so, they also got rid of all their personal furniture, and committed to rebuilding and designing their home together, from scratch. Two lives now one.
Wishing you both the best of luck, if you're reading! How fun it is to start everything new, from scratch together. It is certainly the best way. :)
And here we are, on the "other side", I guess — letting go of all those things we built together and more. All we'll be left with is each other...just the way we want it.
That's the beauty in life—that there are so many different ways to live it.
And when they left last night, after we helped carry all six chairs down the three flights of stairs and onto Wooster St, Aviv + I climbed back up and opened the window to the fire escape. We sat outside looking out for a bit, and spoke about the excitement of feeling like the whole world was our home. No limits.
For a moment, our minds wrapped themselves around that appetizer. And until the main course finally arrives, for now we'll have 4 chairs left to sit on.
