This past weekend, while enjoying a very relaxed first evening of lighting Hanukkah candles, Aviv took a look at a phone update and suddenly muttered a rather loud and enthusiastic "No WAY!...".
At first, I couldn't tell if we had won the lottery, or if there was news of another tragedy in the world.
Well, it was neither, which of course is more than fine with me—though the lottery scenario would have been nice... ;)
Lo and behold, the EcoCapsule prices and delivery dates had been released! SO exciting, right? Remember that little thing?
We haven't forgotten about it! Nor have we put to rest the cross-country idea. In fact, if you've been following along, you'll know we're seriously considering jumping onto the Tiny Home bandwagon!
So what's the news?
This little piece of architectural and eco-friendly genius has been released at a pioneer price of 79,000 Euro (excluding sales tax and shipping). They will be ready for shipment in the last quarter of 2016 with expected delivery of the first 50 capsules complete in the first quarter of 2017.
Aviv looked at me—shared the practicalities of the EcoCapsule launch—and said, "We need another option."
While their open plans for the future are to significantly lower the price, #1—we definitely don't want to spend that much and #2—we want something sooner.
In the past couple months while we waited patiently for EcoCapsule news, we started gathering some information on what it would take to build our own Tiny House. Yes. BUILD OUR OWN tiny, traveling house that would enable us to pursue a life of comfortable, minimalist, traveling FREEDOM.
As they say in Hebrew, eem ain ani li, me li? (אם אין אני לי, מי לי?) — which roughly translates in English to: If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself. Gotta love Israelis!
So, needless to say, more news to come! But please, if anyone has any recommendations, stories, or connections with the Tiny Home community that might help, please send them along! It goes without saying that we would love to hear from you.
Until then, happy Thursday!
